Bassey Bassey
Bassey Bassey is a trained Marine/Environmental Geologist. A revolutionary thinker with core competencies in innovative research for development, human capacity development, policy and strategy. Winner of the Accelerate Labs (North-Central) entrepreneurship competition 2017, a British-Council trained Entrepreneur 2018. Bassey is the Executive Director of HipCity Innovation Centre- a Non-profit organization. The Centre’s thematic areas of focused are Entrepreneurship, youth leadership, Community empowerment and sustainable development, democratic governance, peace and security. Bassey as a development enthusiast enjoys working in grassroots communities; and has contributed to amplifying local voices of youths and women and challenging the young generation of Nigerians towards new thinking, innovation, capacity building and integrity first. Presently, he coordinates the Borderless Academy - An academy that prides in transforming minds of Nigerians especially women and girls to take charge of governed and ungoverned spaces with a drive for personal and community development. Bassey is a strategist and a competent project manager and has served as consultant with notable national and international organizations such as the Heinrich Boell Foundation, Green Concern for Development, GIZ-Sedin, OrderPaper. Bassey is the Director Advocacy and Publicity at the West Africa Association of Customer Service Professionals (WAACSP), he also doubles as a trainer with EmployME Nigeria, a recruitment/HR firm affiliated to the WAACSP where he trains workforce staff in the customer service sector and also facilitate entry-level trainings for aspiring customer service professionals. Bassey is a sustainable Urban Development Enthusiast who has contributed through published research and articles to urban space development in Nigeria and is currently a Steering Committee member of the World Urban Campaign – the only international CSO advisory group to UN-Habitat, and also doubles as the Chairman Partners Constituent Group (PCG) for Indigenous Persons. Bassey possesses other technical skills in media services; He currently host a citizen advocacy program on Radio called “Echoes of the People”, he’s worked with several small NGOs in developing their audio-visual documentary production and supports in their general work place tools training such as Slack, Calendly, Virtual Meetings and social media. Bassey considers himself a strong team player and collaborator and this is reflected in the numerous campaigns and projects he has pioneered as well as volunteered for.
